The Office for Refugees of the Archdiocese of Toronto (ORAT) has been working tremendously hard in settling thousands of refugees from all over the world under the Civic Refugee Resettlement Program. Last year, ORAT reached an unbelievably high number of submissions – a total of 436 people. Furthermore, just in the first part of 2015, ORAT has already submitted a total of 332 people's cases.

The world has not experienced this current high number of displaced people since the Second World War. Over 51 million people are currently uprooted from their homes, making refugee and migration issues to become one of the most pressing concerns in several parts of the world. Canada must take action on this issue and our Archdiocese is at the forefront of opening the doors in this country.

We would like to recognize and thank those who make it possible to resettle refugees; the sponsors, immigration officers in Canada and overseas, workers of international humanitarian organizations, faith-based organizations, resettlement groups, bishops and pastors participating in resettlement, immigration workers and camp managers, volunteers, and staff. Without the support and assistance, this important work could not take place.
